Manatees reproduce at a very low rate, and are not sexually mature until the age of five. It is believedthat oncalf is born every two to five years. Manatess carry their babies in the womb for almost a year. Mothers nurse their young for one to two years, duirng which time a calf remains dependent on its mother.In communities manatees live with many other types of organisms. They are usually found in estuaries so they can be found around oyster reefs, coral reefs, rocky shores, vegetation, marshes, mangroves, shellfish, and migratory birds. In their ecosysytems there is water, sunlight, fish, and plants. The biome that manatees live in is the marine biome. The manatee is a very peaceful organism and doesn't have many enemies. Although it does have some predators, that are very vicious. Their natural predators include : sharks, crocodiles, and alligators.
